Storage rentals can be a bit daunting for the first time initiate.  There are quite a few additional things to keep in mind.  For example, consider insuring your goods.  Also, there are often additional fees that some places charge, including administrative fees and deposits.  Finally, some states charge taxes even on rentals, so be careful if you have a budget to keep.

When we think of a storage container , we tend to think of a metal shed-like building.  In many cases, this is in fact what you will be storing in.  That said, many facilities have storage spaces inside of a climate controlled building with access granted only to those with the correct door code.

Extra closet space would be a good way to describe mini storage .  There are so many people that have just a few items, maybe from a relative who has passed away, that just don't fit anymore.  This becomes particularly important when people go to sell their homes, and their real estate agent says certain things have got to go.

Long distance movers have to really plan ahead to make sure that they don't arrive in the dead of night at a facility with no 24 hr access.  They also have to find available spaces from another part of the world, which usually entails research by internet or phone.  It is ideal to have an idea where you will be staying in your adopted city, as a convenient storage location will really minimize moving stress.

Unsure where to obtain boxes ?  Prepared to get a little dirty?  There is nothing like digging around behind grocery and department stores for castaway cardboard.  Try to go for boxes in good condition, not moist or torn.  Store usually get resupplied on particularly days, so you may want to check in advance, not at the last minute.

Are you transitioning from one home to another?  If house moving , call ahead to make sure that a convenient facility nearby has the available space you need, and don't wait until the last minute to find a space, especially if moving on a sunday.  Sometimes, exasperated movers have a truck full of goods, several paid laborers to move their stuff, and no way to get into the gate.  They end up having to wait until the next day at a minimum, with additional rental fees and labor fees tacked on to the total.
