After having moved all of my friends belongings the next day it felt as if I had entered a triathalon.  I realize now how out of shape I had become.  I guess professional furniture movers really get their excercise and could probably enter olympic events if they so desire to. 

Well we got my friend moved in to her new place and she is getting settled in.  The day of the move it started to snow which made it a bit more difficult but that is what you get when you move in winter.  In my opinion it is better than rain.  When my friend said she had a ton of stuff in her storage unit she really meant it.  The amount of boxes was staggering and they reached at least ten feet in the air.  It was quite like playing a jenga game trying to get them down.

I have a friend that is moving in to the apartment below mine.  She is a wonderful lady that I have gotten to know well over the past few months.  The previous tenant I had as a neighbor was not a very kind person and had been difficult to deal with.  It is always better to have a good relationship with the people that live around you.

I wonder how many moving services there are out there.  Sure there are the big operators that do coast to coast but what about if you just want to go cross town.  These days though I am a basically lazy person and have moved many times with the help of friends in the past. 

How do you find local storage you may one day ask yourself.  There are many ways these days beyond the old traditional method of going to the phone book.  Of course the internet is rapidly replacing the phone book as a means of locating what you are searching for.  Now you can even do GPS and cell phone services to acquire just about anything the heart desires.  Technology eh?

A few years back i met a lady that had her own catering business with a pretty established clientele.  She was interested in retiring but did not want to let the business go as she spent much of her life making it successful.  Catering was something I was interested in doing so we had discussed me taking over her business while she kept the names and a portion of the business.  We ended up meeting at her storage warehouse to inventory all the equipment so we had a better idea how to proceed.  Unfortunately she decided not to sell at least for now.

Have you ever been traveling and gotten a storage rental at an airport or a train station?  If you have did you feel that your belongings were secure?  I have done this more times than I care to.  There are hundreds of thousands of strangers that walk by that little locker sometimes daily. 

There is nothing wrong with doing business with mom and pop outfits and many times there are great benefits when doing business with this model.  It contributes to the local economy and usually comes with a more personal level of service.  However, the drawbacks are there too like being able to contact someone when neccessary and they are only open a few days a week or they are run by proxy.  For a nationwide self storage company the purse is bigger and so are the amenities.  Prices can be more competitive and you can always contact someone or go to office whenever you need to.

Storage buildings come in all shapes and sizes and there are many to choose from.  Some have the standard drive up units with roll up doors.  Many of the newer modern facilities are inside units some climate controlled some especially for wine.  Some specialize in vehicle and collector cars with detailing equipment.  Whatever you need to put up there is something out ther for you.

I am from the city.  I was born and raised in a city and I spent the first thirty five years of my life living in a city and I figured I would die in a city.  How wrong I was, well it is possible I could die in a city, but now I live in a small town.  Moving four hundred miles from the city to this small town I call home now was well worth it.
