At work, I have to share a computer with a fellow employee. We both work in self storage . Needless to say, she is not as clean as I am. I always wipe the desk down, keep things picked up, and keep papers to a minimum. However, she likes to leave her stuff out, rearrange the desk so that she can work while slouching, and even brings food to her desk. It drives me crazy.
Technology has come a long way over the past 100 years. We have seen many inventions, both great and flawed. Sometimes, I wonder about self storage and her place in the future. Of course it will be necessary, unless we find a way to shrink our items. We have figured out how to shrink some things using large vaccum bags. In the future, we may still need storage for raw materials or machinery. Many people forget units are used for those items already.
What is the difference between self storage in Canada and storage in the United States? Not much, actually. Nearly all storage facilities in Canada are modeled after US facilities. This is mostly due to the history of the storage industry. When storage units in the United States became popular, most entrepenuers decided to expand into the great north. They created properties similarly, and began to operate them in the same fashion as well. The properties in Canada even use feet as the space measurement size, although Canada uses the metric system.
