It is no suprise that the busiest time of year for the storage industry is the summer months.  Most people get self storage between the months of April and August.  That being said, there are people that get storage outside that time frame.  The reason why the summer is so busy is because that is the ideal moving time.  Most people have summer vacations, and kids are often out of school.  Relocating during the summer is also popular.  It is important to remember that when looking for storage.  Also start looking about a month in advance and reserve a space whenever possible to make sure it is there when you need it.

Part 3.  Your Alive

Mona watched in horror as the one-eyed pad lock winked and then began dancing a jig, using his key as a make shift cane.  When he was finished, he sat down and just looked up to the terrified face of eight year old Mona.  The lock reached his hand up, as if to shake Monas hand.  Mona slowly reached down, grabbed the pad lock's non-exsitant hand and shook it softly.  The pad lock giggled with excitment, then reached into his pocket and produced a tiny card.  It read,  My name in PL.  I was left here many years ago when my previous owner abandoned me.  Thank you for saving me.  The card was very worn, and Mona was sure he had been waiting a long time for someone to help him.  Just then, three movers came rumbling up the stairs, carring boxes for a tenant on the top floor.  The lock quickly jumped back into Monas hands.  When she looked down, PL was again just a normal lock.  As Mona moved out of the way, she decided she had made a new friend, even if no one else would believe her.

I recenly aquired an antique chest.  It is very nice.  It is all wood, with a plank design.  The top of the chest resembles an old hardwood floor.  The chest is so old, it is actually held together by wooden pegs.  A chest like this is hard to find these days.  While I could use the chest for storage, I dont plan to.  This is now my favorite piece of furniture by far.  The only thing I have to worry about is making sure I don't put anything heavy on top of it by accident.  The top is not very sturdy.  It deffinatly wouldnt hold up a person.

There are so many things you can store in a storage facility .  But, there are also a lot you cannot store.  Most places do not allow non running vehicles.  They also do not allow any living or forming living organism.  Sorry to those of you who do taxidermy as a hobby.  It is advised that you do not store money or expensive artwork.  This is because more facilities only have a maximum payout on insurance.  Also, anything that could be considered a fire hazard is not usually accepted.  Keep this in mind when renting.

Right now, the economy is not in the best shape around North America.  With a down economy comes the loss of homes.  Because of this, many people have turned to storage to get help.  In fact, some people sneek into thier units so they can stay there.  This has ecspecially become a problem in New York City, where unemployment is at an all time high.  I have had my fair share of calls where people actually ask if they can live in a space.  Of course, the answer is no.  People can not legally live in a storage unit .  Anybody who is reading this now knows to look elsewhere for a place to stay.

Someone who has never moved before might ask what is the proper way to pack.  Well, there is a right and a wrong way to pack.  When moving , make sure you always stay organized.  This helps minimize the amount of stuff you lose.  Regardless, some of your items may never show up again.  Also, make sure delicates have proper packing materials inside to keep them from breaking.  Boxes should be labeled based on the room it is to go.  Finally, make sure to properly tape each box, so the bottom does not fall out.

There are a ton of places to live today.  However, most people don't think about the costs of living in big cities.  Major cities ALWAYS have higher prices than areas that are more rural.  Therefore, if you purchase a house in a small town, you would get more space for less money.  Some people are willing to pay more to get less, so long as their zip code is 90210.  With the economic downturn, more people have begun to invade small communities in search of lower prices.  This year alone saw a huge percent of people moving to other, less populated areas.
