Nothing feels as good as being recognized for a job well done. Jacob was grinning from ear to ear because he had just been pulled aside and commended for his performance over the last month at work. His self storage salesforce had been lagging behind in March, and there had been some concern as to how they could pull up the numbers. Jacob made a suggestion and before he knew it, he had been given a task, to come up with an incentive plan for the employees for the following month to see if it would bring up sales. He was given a budget of five hundred dollars to work with.

He came up with a cash bingo idea that was a hit with all of the employees, and every time someone made a sale they got to choose a bingo chip from the tumbler. Each day the pot was increased by ten dollars. the first person to get the bingo won the pot and then it started over again. People loved going over to the neon pink tumbler and retrieving their chip. It was a fun was to get the self storage salesforce talking, communicating, and most importantly, selling. Jacob was excited by the recognition that came down from his GM. He had never been singled out like that. To know that his efforts had made a difference gave Jacob the confidence to reach a little higher and do a little more. It was a good feeling, and Jacob hoped that it stuck around for a while.

Let me be the first to admit that working in a call center has its ups and downs. For the most part its fun and the people are easy to get along with. I guess i would the only bad part about it is that when the callers on the other end of the phone get smart, you cant get smart back. Now i know i can speak for everyone when i say there are times i want to say forget the rules and give only the rude ones a piece of my mind. The nice callers are the ones I really try to help and get them cheap storage or make sure there unit is right or even making sure they know everything there getting charged at the time of signing paper. Of course i try to help the mean ones to but when they dont wanna listen and get all irate for no reason or get irate at me for something i had nothing to do about, thats when I get to the point where i need to wrap up the phone call. Everyone has went through it so i have alot of support to stay calm and try not to lose my cool.

When i was younger my dad was the ice cream man and i thought that was the coolest thing ever. So many different kinds and flavors of ice cream, so many i swear everyday i would take a different selection and he would never find out. One day he found out that i was taking his ice cream so he started moving them out the house and rented a storage unit to keep them there from then on. Now i thought that was a stupid idea because the ice cream is going to melt, duh, but what i didn't know is that he got a climate controlled storage unit so he kept the temp just right to store the ice cream there forever. As you know nothing last forever, pest control was behind on there check ups at the storage facilty so to make a long story short, my dad lost about two thousand dollars worth of ice cream. It was a big lose and he had to quit.

I never knew playing outside with your friends could turn into something more than just playing or imagination. We all were at the play ground and at first we were playing tag, then when tag started getting boring i decided to take over the world better known as the play ground. Anyways, i took it to a whole nother level, i saw myself in this big warehouse with nothing but boxes everywhere and im shooting at the bad guys that work for Mr. Biggs. He is this big time ganster and if i wanted to rule the world i had to take him out first to gain total control.

Working in a call center is new for me since all my other jobs had to deal with cleaning or cooking. Alot is going on at times and at other times nothing is going on at all. You hear many conversations going on at the same time, some are the reps talking to customers and the others are just reps talking to reps in between calls. Like i said its a all new, before I worked in a hotel which was not in my top five favorite jobs. Moving from dealing with people face to face to dealing with people over the phone is a big difference but its for the better and i dont have to worry about cleaning up other people mess.

I remember about six years ago my mom and i lived in a three bedroom house which was brand new and in a wonderful area. A married couple by the name of Tom and Lily Anderson were the property managers of the units in the area. Anyways, we had a bad storm our first year in that house and there was a real bad link in the roof. I guess the roof guys got too hot and wanted to go home early so they rushed through the rest of the job but that was the only problem really. My mom called Tom and Lily about the roof and they were shocked and upset with the constuctions guy so they got the link fixed the very next day plus they got me a new bedroom set because my old set was wet. Now thats good property management , usually the landlord takes forever getting to any problems your home or appartment but this couple was different and really cared about there tenets.

I have been working a job since i was 13 years old, from fast food to hard labor jobs. For the most part all of them have been customer service related dealing with people and trying to help people out the best way i can. Its a good feeling when you know that you helped someone who really needed it or know you made someones day alittle bit more easy. I dont see alot of customer service minded peolpe now of days, they just give you your drink, napkins, and bag then say in a i hate being here kinda voice, thank you. It seems like its not important no more when it is, i can have the worst day of my life but if i go through a drive thru and the employee is the nicest and sweetest person with great customer service skill, that would make the rest of my day better. Dont you agree?

My next door neighbors are moving next week into a bigger much better place. Drake is a good friend of mine and his parents have known my parents for years so its alittle sad but im happy for them for real. Anyways, all three of them started off as furniture movers , moving furniture for weathly customers. After five years of doing that they realized that they could make more money and less lifting if the owned there own self storage company. It took awhile but they are finally self storage owners and Drake is the manager, business is always booming and they love every minute of it. I heard that in the next year or so theyll be ready to start building another facility and i hope they ask me to a manager so i can make some big bucks with them.

I was reading the newspaper the other day and i saw a story in there that really caught my eye. Three different moving companies was having sucess with there business since people are moving into smaller places because of this resession, but i guess the owners thought they would be more sucessful if they changed to storage facilities. So they made this desicion during last summer and started building the new facilities at the end of the summer planning on being finished with them by the beginning of winter. It was suppose to be a fast project but because of the heat and certain things not being on time, the buildings were put on hold during the winter. Now they expected alot of snow this winter so what they did was purchsed a warehouse self storage facility to put all the supplies needing to finish the project so it wouldnt get covered by snow and unuseable anymore. After the winter months were over, they kept on trying to finish the project and they did, now they are making double what they were making when they was just a moving company plus had enough money to buy that warehouse for furiture run ins like this one.

Why do bad things happen to good people? I guess thats just how life goes and the bad thing about it is that you really cant do nothing about it. I live in a nice neighborhood but in the past year we done had 3 different land lords and now they want to sell all the appartments so you know what that means. We gotta go, asap. Not to mention it was short notice so me and my roomate have 7 days to find place or well be living on the street. For the past 2 days weve been looking for appartments, packing our things in boxes , looking for cheap storage , cleaning up the place so it can pass inspection, pretty much everything that shoulda been done if we got this notice earlier than 2 days ago. Thats one of those things where you cant do nothing about it, you just gotta go through the stress of moving in a very stressfull time limit.
